2010 Green River Pond Club Commuity Raffle Presents Roberta (Chacon) Miller
Thank You To Everyone Who Helped With Our Fundraiser For Roberta!
We Raised Over $3,000.00

There seems to be no shortage of wonderful people willing to help those in need.
Each year the pond tour brings the community together by sponsoring a fund raising raffle to help someone in the community in a meaningful manner. The raffle is supported by local businesses within the Green River and Rock Springs area.
This year we will be working hard to raise funds for Roberta (Chacon) Miller.
Roberta, age 33, has been battling Multiple Sclerosis (MS) since November 2002. However, in August 2009 she was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer. She has been receiving cancer treatment at the University of Colorado (UCH) - Anschutz in Aurora, Colorado, in coordination, with chemotherapy treatments in Riverton, Wyoming.
Even though it was difficult being away from her husband and children, while receiving treatment at UCH, she continues to possess tremendous faith and determination. Her will power in battling both the MS and cancer is evident to everyone she meets. Even when she is feeling her worst from the chemo tretments, she can still crack a joke to bring a smile to those around her. She takes every opportunity to educate others about the myths of Colon Cancer, specifically, that it is not a disease that affects men or those over 50. With early detection, it is one of the most curable cancers. Therefore, she would like to raise awareness of knowing ones family history of Colon Cancer, and at what age is recommended to start early detection screening.
Roberta was born and raised in Green River, Wyoming. She is a 1994 Graduate of Green River High School. She attended the University of Wyoming and graduated with a teaching degree in 1998. She accepted her first teaching job with the Riverton Public Schools and has been teaching kindergarten for the past ten years. She is married to Reggie Miller, also of Green River, and has two children, Kendra (11) and Kellen (9). Her parents are Celso and Martha Chacon of Green River, She also has a sister, Denise Wald of Cheyenne. Her in-laws are Don and Marla Miller formerly of Green River now living in Riverton.
Roberta and family would like to thank everyone for their support, prayers and well wishes.
